Auction Project Finished!

Hooray! They are finished. Thank you for all your enthusiastic comments about this project. I bet you're eager to see the results.

Here you can see a bit of machine and hand stitching. Each piece got some of both.

Here is the cross series.

Here are the houses. See the little green grass stitches? And the orange flowers on the white houses?

Here is a shot of the back with the label I created with an image of the original sketch and the name of the student who created it. This one is for the pink house that you see above.

Here are the flowers. They make an especially nice collection, I think.

I made a simple muslin sleeve for each piece. This will make for safer, easier transporting from here to there.

I'll be visiting the classroom this week to meet all the young artists and talk a little about art quilting. I'm really looking forward to it!

The auction is a new endeavor for this school and the teacher and I are eager to see how it all plays out. I'll keep you posted!

It was super fun to see the process of translating kid art into sweet quilt art. So lovely. I hope the auction is a success!

These are quite lovely. The 10 by 10 art auction here in Brunswick does very well. the art is shown on line and the auction takes place from 6 to 8 pm on one night only. All proceeds are for art experiences in the elementary schools.

I think these pieces will do very well in raising funds. And the kids will bring parents in to SEE their work.

Really wonderful pieces, Deborah! It seems like such a fun project. I hope the kids are excited to see their works interpreted.

Deborah, these are absolutely marvelous! Love everything about this project, not least you attention to every detail! Including the original on the back and packaging in muslin...brilliant! Do you have a tutorial about the mounting process you used here?

Those turned out GREAT!!! I love the way you credited the designer on your labels and am interested to discover your technique for mounting the pieces on canvas. I've never tried that.
