Reveal Day!

It's reveal day for the Twelve by Twelve group! Very exciting. I think it's so fun to check the blog throughout the day and see the new quilts created by my fellow "twelves." I picked the theme this time around: chairs.

Here is my contribution. "She Sits to Dream."
I created this quilt with the intention to loosen up in my art -- the colors, the techniques, the process. It was challenging, but fun.
You can read a bit more about it on the Twelve by Twelve blog.

Actually, "She Sits to Dream" was the second quilt I created on the chair theme. Here is the first.
It's called "She Sits to Wait." I think it's interesting that two quilts can be so similar and yet so different. It's very calm, don't you think. (Boring, maybe?)
Which do you like better?

This is so beautiful *O*

Good job!

I love them both. I think they both could have been called "She sits to dream." "She" would have very different dreams in each quilt. The first one pictured would lead to creative and energetic dreams. The second one, more serene, ethereal dreams.

I also love them both, but actually love your "sits to wait" more. It is so lovely and delicate and no, not at all boring!

I actually like both chair quilts very much. I would probably lean a little more toward the one you submitted to the group, just because of the bright and fun colors, but there's nothing bad or boring about the other quilt at all.

It's hard to pick which one I like best because I like them both but for different reasons. "She Sits to Dream" makes me feel cheerful and happy. I would certainly be able to dream in that chair. Plus, I love color and it has great colors! On the other hand, I like "She Sits to Wait" because it's serene and looks like a very cozy and comfortable place to wait.

She Sits To Dream draws my attention to the chair and then the detail.

She Sits to Wait - the window draws the eye and attention away from the chair. I think it takes away from the intention.

However, that said, I am envious of your creativity and execution.
I've been a follower of the blog for just a few weeks and look forward to your posts.

Hi Deborah - I like them both for different reasons - she sits to dream as it shows your spirit and she sits to to wait because it is true to your style - great job getting out of your comfort zone...

Interesting question since they are so different. The first/Dream is cheerful and lovely, yet my heart responded to the second/Wait which is simpler in color, yet not somber for me because the sprouting branch in front implies new growth and the window symbolizes new opportunities.
