Workshop Fun

It was such a delight to teach a workshop at my studio last week. I had four students for "Small Art Quilts: Designing a Series."

Here is Audrey preparing her backgrounds. You can see my samples on the white board on the right.

Peggy did several stunning mountain scenes.

Audrey chose to work with square shapes.

Lu had a fantastic selection of fabrics. Are you sensing a purple theme?

Cassie did some fantastic symmetrical layouts with fun teal wormy spirals. (And more purple.)

After we finished the compositions, we began working on embellishments with embroidery. In the back: Lu's floss. In the foreground: my floss.

I really learned a lot with these students. I'll be teaching this workshop at the Denton Quilt Guild in January. It's such a fun process and I think it can really open up some creative ideas for artists who haven't considered these techniques.

Do you select your students based on their color palette? My floss looks like yours!!

I'm so excited that you are venturing out into the teaching arena.

I am so jealous. I wish I lived in the area. If you ever come to Georgia or anywhere near, I want to know!
