Junk Drawer

I'm off to my third soccer game for the day, but I'll stop with just a few quick thoughts from the junk drawer of my mind. (Thanks to Deb for this wonderful reference.)

Blogger Sighting
I had the fantastic pleasure of hearing (and meeting) Laura Wasalowski at the Dallas Quilt Guild on Thursday night. She was so funny and had a whole room full of traditional quilters singing and dancing in the palm of her hand. I loved seeing her amazing blue chair series and hearing the "Wasalowski" song sung to the tune of "Oklahoma."

I am a bad bad blogger because I did not bring my camera to take a picture of the two of us together. I need to take the time to run through our entire Artful Quilters Webring sometime soon. I'm wondering how many I've met in person... I know there is Joanne, Sarah, Kathy, Mel, Gabrielle, Lesley and now Laura.

Houston
Speaking of meeting in person, I've finally nailed down my plans to go to the International Quilt Festival in Houston in November. I'll hope to meet more of you there. Please email me if you are going to be there. I promise to have my camera with me!

Movie Reviews
Eight Below: B+ I was stressed out the whole movie about how they were going to rescue those dogs.
The Sentinel: B+ I always like the whole concept of getting double crossed.
The Lake House: B+ It didn't quite live up to my expectations.
Akella and the Bee: B+ It was quite good and very inspiring.
LOST season premier: B+ ---- I know it's not a movie, but it feels like one! I missed hearing about the other Losties. And I've had enough of Jack acting tormented.

More later!

I gave up LOST last season because of the continual cliff hangers within cliff hangers...I was being tormented. I watched it last week thinking I've give it another try and I'm not sure...all that suspense and angst rubs off, ya know?

Sounds as though you're busy as usual. I have many friends going to the quilt show in Houston, but I will be getting that new hip at about that time. I'll tell them to look out for you.

We leave today for Wimberley. South Padre has been beautiful...all the flowers. Wow.
