I always enjoy posting about our Frayed Edges meals. They are always so wonderful! You just chose to make different kinds of things when you are lunching with the ladies, you know what I mean? It's so refreshing for me to have something other than Chicken and Stars or pb&j.
There was an article in the local paper about pomegranates being in season and tasty-sounding pilaf. So we tried that. Delish! Seriously, click on that link and print it out for your files. It's a keeper!
Kathy had learned on Martha's show how to get at the fruit of the pom, so she did that.
Isn't it beautiful?! So shiny and red and in such interesting little jewel shapes.
We also had cornbread and artichokes -- with lemon butter for dipping. How's that for a lovely vegetarian meal?
Neither Kate nor Kathy had ever eatten a full, fresh, whole artichoke. We were gabbing so much during lunch, I don't know that we got an official review from them about the experience. I enjoyed mine!
Kate brought a beautiful tart. Also delish, of course.
Did you notice that it's a bit smooshed at the top above the blueberries?
That's what happens when you are in a hurry to get going in the morning and you just toss the wrapped up quilt into the back of the car -- on top of the tart. Oops. Here's a picture of a reinactment.
Oh I forgot, we also had coffee cake. You can see what's left there on the counter next to the basket of napkins. Kathy said it's just a box mix by Krustees. Yes, I'll be adding that to my shopping list. Easily as good as from scratch!

Townsend downed a pomegranite (sp?) a day this week. The baby kept say "seeds?" to him and couldn't figure out why he was eating them. YUMilicious meals as always, Deborah.
Yumm - I love reading about other people's meals. They are so different from my own, often.
Y'all come up with the best menues! Yum!
I don't think I've ever eaten a pomegranate (sp?) in my life. Afraid I might have to spend half the year in Hades, perhaps. [grin]
I LOVE POMS!! and they are finding that they are so good for us! Lots of those phyto thing-a-ma-bobs. I've been alternating mangoes and poms for my fruits du jour.
Meals looked yummy. I tried artichokes last year with friends.. and I still don't get the big deal. Lots of fussing for so little payoff!!
Lunch with the girls IS special, and it should be a treat. I really enjoy making something with "eye appeal" because I know it will be appreciated. The men around here just don't seem to notice.
Everything looks yummy! Jen
