Cruciform

Here is a tiny little series I did as Father's Day gifts for the three wonderful fathers and grandfathers in my life. (They were certainly inspired by Mel's Cruciform series and by my love of the grid format and ultimately to the traditional quilted nine patch.) I gave Jeff "first choice" and he choose this one.We added it to the small collection of crosses in our living room. You can almost see the threads hanging down at the bottom. I left the tails long from those quilting lines.

This one went to Grampa Tom.

And this one went to Grampa Jim. I even tied little beads onto the long thread ends on this one.

There were fun to make. I still love working small.

These are great little pieces. I've been wanting to make some small pieces for gifts for a while now. Love the photo with the elephant!

You do small well, and there's nothing wrong with that. Wonderful gift idea too. :-)

You really do Do (haha...dodo) small well, Deborah. Just as Kristin said. And you are very attracted to the grid/cross format. My lovely birthday piece from you is of that tradition. I love it every day. I was very pleased when I found the perfect frame for it...a rustic barnwood. Also, I think that you are a specialist regarding embracing simplicity. That means every choice you make has got to be right. Very Degas and Matisse. They wanted one line to convey everything.
