Last week, I spent almost four hours painting a bunch of fabric! Some will be used in my art quilts, some will be included in kits for upcoming workshops. I thought it would be fun to do a time lapse video of my morning. Check it out.

I loved using the Gelli Printing Plate. Wow. I only scratched the surface of the possibilities of that tool. (Luckily I didn't actually scratch the surface. That would be bad.) I also used some more Stencil Girl stencils -- some with the Gelli plate. That awesome background music is written and performed by my very talented cousin Ben Streeter. Some of this same style of surface design and painting is included in my STITCHED workshop. The workshop also includes sections on design, construction and stitching. Super fun. (And did you hear that STITCHED has been extended? Now you'll have access to 20 workshops all the way through 2012 for only $89.)
I am really enjoying playing with video production. More of that in the future, for sure. What would you like to see?

I loved watching this, what a fun idea. Seeing you standing at the window looking out, pausing to think and look, moving around your space- you're really helping to show an entire process rather than just the end product. Very personal and wonderful, Deborah.
That IS fun! I especially like the little break for some book research and a head scratch. :-) I gotta remember to put a Gelli plate on my shopping list too.
Now that looked like lots of fun. I'm so getting out my new and unused Gelli Plate this week.
What fun! Like your apron .... isn't it nice to have a "really OK to muck it up apron?"
Love the branch/fractured stencil...it's on that last piece of fabric... a stencil? a screen?

This is why I'm holding back a tad on the STITCHED workshops that involve paint. There are new things I am seeing in the vids and on the blogs that I want to try. Thx so much for this little look into your creative process. I'm checking on Gelli as we speak.

I enjoyed your video. Thanks for sharing! I have often wanted to try my luck with some fabric painting. I am a quilter. My concern is that the paint would make my fabric stiff. What is your opinion?
