I am thrilled to have projects published in two new magazines! Such an honor and somewhat amazing to think of artists all over the world looking at my art and reading my "how to" steps.
My "fabric leaves necklaces" are in Belle Armoire Jewelry (Winter 2009).
There is a beautiful close-up shot of two of my necklaces (see page 117!). I really should take a picture of myself wearing one of the necklaces... maybe tomorrow.
There are so many inspiring projects in this issue. I loved the fabric and wire beads by Deryn Mentock. The profile of Susan Lenart Kazmer (written by Rice Freeman-Zachery) was fascinating.
I also have a project in the new Sew Somerset (also Winter 2009). I really like this magazine. It is full of arty projects using fabric.
My project is in the Art Quilts section and it's called "Hot Seat Collection." I thought is would be an interesting challenge to make a series of art quilts in each of the trendy sizes for various art quilts: Journal - 8.5x11, Postcard - 4x6, ATCs 2.5x3.5 and Inchies - 1x1.
Can you believe I used warm colors... so unusual for me! Here is the finished collection.
The Inchies are so tiny! I can't believe I zig zagged those edges.
Did you notice that I got a head start on the "chair" theme for Twelve by 12? I think I'll be going in a different direction for the February 1 reveal, but this project got me inspired.
Of course, this issue of Sew Somerset is full of inspiration. I am so thrilled to included among so many wonderful artists. I haven't had a chance to read through it yet. When I do, I'll share some links with you.
Speaking of links, did you notice that Sonji opened an Etsy shop?!

Hehe. We could all use a hot seat today, even in TX. Congrats on your magazine articles. I'll go check them out at the bookstore.
Way cool, kiddo! TWO publications in one month... you're on a roll! We need pics of the necklace, especially if you are in it!
Love the idea of the advent tree...good on you. I keep trying to teach the kids about the nativity but it is like swimming upstream during a storm...... sigh......
Am hoping my cold goes away soon...haven't gotten it as bad as Paul or Joshua, but it's still a nuisance!
Hope Texas is hunky dory!
Cheers, Sarah
