Zoo!

On Martin Luther King Day we ventured into DC to go to the National Zoo. We were hoping to see the baby lion cubs. Luckily, we arrived just in time. They are only outside from 12:30 to 1 and only if it's warm enough.

There are seven cubs. Three from one mom and four from another. (One dad, of course.) Here
you can see five of the cubs. I believe the other two were hiding in the bushes.
Here are the two mamas. (And cubs in the lower right.)

And here is one mama with a cub jumping on her head.

They were so playful! A delight to watch.

Later we attended the Martin Luther King Celebration at the National Cathedral and dinner at Open City after. I started the meal with a delicious cafe mocha!
There were two animal crackers on my saucer -- luckily they were not lion-shaped, I'm not sure I could have eaten them.

Ah, the life of a mama -- kids jumping on your head!
