Photos

I gave Benjamin free range with the camera one afternoon last week. From the looks of this snapshot, he enjoyed himself.
He decided to take a picture of two empty toilet paper rolls sitting on the stairs waiting to be carried upstairs to be given to the gerbils.

He took the picture, but he DID NOT take the toilet paper rolls upstairs. Ahem.

I'm posting these random pictures because I think they are funny, but also to ask for help from blogger experts about uploading pictures. It's taking F.O.R.E.V.E.R! And even then, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I'm using the "add image" icon within the blogger posting window. I've tried to add more than one image at a time. That NEVER works. Grumble. I've tried using Firefox. It goes faster, but still feels slower than it used to. I've cleared my cache. Is there another way to add pictures to posts? I'm lazy. I want it to be speedy and easy.
I'm eager to hear your advice. In the meantime, here's a picture Benjamin took in the backyard. It's spring in Texas.

It won't last long. Summer will be here very soon!

Hmmm... it's odd that blogger is being slower in loading your pics, because I was thinking - just yesterday - that it is going much more quickly for me.

I know that I'm no help - but, I did want to say that Benjamin looks super cute in his picture!

Love the budding photo but mom, don't you know that men don't do tp.....

Really appreciate your blog on Anne Lamott and thanks again for that great evening. I'm still absorbing her wisdom.

Think about it, - do you ever resize your photos to a smaller size? The size they are when showing up in the blog?
It seems to me as you are uploading very large photofiles: 1200 x 1600 pixels when I click on them, - 400x 300 when they are in the blog.
Can you try resizing them before uploading them?

I use flickr as a host for my photos. They have a "blog this" button that makes it easy to blog a photo, but only one at a time.

I also use Windows LiveWriter to make my post on my own computer and not on the blogger dashboard. It's free program. You can compose your post with photos and text (and more) and then let the program do the work, - publish it all.
That's fast and easy for me, and works much better than writing a blogpost at the dashboard, I think.

I was thinking of writing you last time you asked about this, but thought that others would help you out then. Hope this can be of some help, - love your blog and what's an artblog without photos? :-)

I have that trouble too. I think part of the problem is the picture size. I take the pictures straight from the camera and post them as is. I know that in order to make them web friendly - easier for a web page to load - I am supposed to make the size of the file smaller - but I am usually too lazy to do that. I am hoping that eventually blogger will give us an option to automatically resize photos much smaller so we don't have to worry about it.

It is the size. I usually don't make mine over 800 pixels on the longest side. I loved the photos that Benjamin took - especially the self-portrait.

Just chiming in to say, yes, you need to resize the photos. The largest size that blogger displays is around 400 pixels on the longest side (actually 408, I think) That is the size I make all my photos unless I want it to be clickable to be viewed larger. Even then I usually don't make it much more than 600 pixels on a side
