Silk Screens

Here are some silk screens I did in a workshop with Dawn Zero Erickson at the Fiber Artists conference a couple of weeks ago.I suppose they are rather nice. I don't think I'll be building my own silk screen, but I enjoyed the process and the results. In the upper left you can see the square grid screen that I cut and it's printed on the cloth that I had under some of the fabric I painted for the Construction quilt. Hooray for multi use and over printing! I really like my little pomegranate printed on old jeans.

Now what will I do with them? Probably some hand stitching and maybe some beading. I may just wrap some pieces around some small stretched canvases. Several of the pieces will just be added to my stash and wait for further inspiration. I have a whole drawer of pieces with various bits of surface design.

I should probably heat set it all first.

as much as i love silk screening, building my own frame doesn't seem necessary...maybe if it was central to what i do, maybe...

i love your samples...what is up with Zero as a name? what is the origin? or is it a chosen name that has a personal meaning?
