Illinois

We had a great trip to see family in Illinois about three weeks ago. Our trip included a small town Shriner's Circus ... and an elephant ride. I must say, I am torn a bit by all those questions about animals in circuses. But, riding an elephant seemed like a once-in-a-life-time opportunity that we couldn't pass up. (Well, I passed up... but the rest of the kids--young and old--enjoyed!)

She's so pretty, don't you think? Can't go wrong with polka dots.Of course, I'm thinking about Water for Elephants as I look at these pictures and wondering...

It's a great book! Big thumbs up from me (and lots of others).

You remember I also loved Eat Pray Love. Did you know that Elizabeth Gilbert has posted some FAQs about the book on her website? There are even pictures of Richard from Texas and Wayan and Tutti. If you haven't read the book, go straight to the library and check it out. (Or put it on hold, I bet it's already checked out.) If you have read the book, I bet you'd enjoy the additional info at her website.

She looks like she's been covered by a Jane Sassaman blender fabric :-)

How funny - I just finished reading water For Elephants last week. It was difficult to get into but I liked it in the end.

I just picked it up, because of your recommendation. I am part way through India, anxious for Bali, loved Italy. India is a bit daunting to get through, I keep having to read some parts again. I spend lots of time in Bali in the winter, so I can't wait to get to those chapters.

I bought it and it is waiting for me to finish "Leaving Church" by Barbara Bradford Taylor. Have you read that? I also want to read Like Water for Elephants.

Yesterday Mia and I were reading on the front porch and it was delightful, them Milo showed up and it went downhill from there - or at least more active.
