I just love how it turned out. Sometimes the best work is the stuff that just flows -- no planning, no second guessing. I going to send it to Somerset Studio to consider for the "exemplar" they publish in each issue. And exemplar is a creative exploration of the alphabet. You can see I stamped a letter on each blossom. (I inked over the A which got a bit lost under the surface design.) And the green background on the lower half is also the alphabet, handwritten over and over.The dots are painted on the top after everything else was done using sequin waste as a stencil. Looking at it again here I am wondering if the little red flowers need some kind of stems. Hmmm.
I'm sitting here reading blogs and enjoying a cappachino while Jeff is at McDonalds with the kids for pancakes. Sacred Saturday. Now I'm off to the studio to work on the latest Frayed Edges project.

I love this piece! I have a thing for textile pieces with lettering, and this was just so fresh and cheerful. I would not have added stems to the flowers - I like them floating around the way they are. If you were to add stems, the lower part of the picture might be a bit "crowded", I think.
But that's just my humble opinion :-)
It is so sweet. I hope that you are keeping a file (or bookshelf) of all your published work. I'm sure Somerset will print this piece.

There is so much "crafty goodness" going on in this piece! It's like a breath of fresh air. I love the painted dots. You must have used some sort of stamp?
I can't believe I missed this day on your blog. I love this piece too and especially love the surface work you did. So great an idea to use sequin waste as a resist for paint. Must try that...
