What I Was Working On...

A wonderful friend commissioned a piece of art work for his wife (also a wonderful friend) for Christmas. I was delighted to make this landscape.

I knew she loved the "fields of gold" pieces I did last spring, so I drew on those colors and similar shapes and techniques. She called on Christmas Day to tell me how delighted she was! I should have asked her if she was surprised. Her husband and I were working in secret!

I also framed it for them. Here it is sitting on my messy table so you can see the scale.

Why do I have a stuffed snake on my table?

I'll be away for a few days. In the meantime, I must leave you with six big thumbs up for Ben Stiller's new movie, "Night at the Museum." Grpa and Grma joined the kids and Jeff and me to the theater and we ALL loved it. So funny and such a great storyline. Now I want to spend the night in a museum!

Just gorgeous! And you have a stuffed snake on your desk for the same reason I have a heart sticker on my sewing machine and plastic robot parts in my pile of yarns.

Fabulous piece-are the trees made from gold fabric? They're stunning. By the way-James is 22 and I still find Lego pieces everywhere. It makes me smile remembering the many hours on the floor assembling great Lego works of art. Last year his girlfriend gave him a $200.00 Ferrari Lego set. Now it's her problem.

What a wonderful gift! I love your quilts. As for the snake, I second what Kristin said, for the same reason as I have snakes and sponge bob stickers all over my computer screen edges and "cool" stuff on the sewing table. LOL. kids keep us young and remind us not to take everything so seriously.

Well, I found a The Nutcracker on my cutting table this morning. On my sewing table, I found a ballerina. So there!!

Love that piece. I adore your little landscapes!!

Deborah,I love the sticks for tree trunks. And, what did you write in the sky? Is it sentences or just words and phrases? I also like how the tall leaves of grass (or trees) go off the main piece into the edge. Very nice. How do I get Scott in the commission line??!?!? :) Lucy

Yes, it was a total surprise! I cried when I opened it. It is so beautiful! You are an incredible artist and I feel so lucky to own this piece. I love the words of the song in the sky and the depth of the landscape with the sparkling "barley". Anyhow, thank you so much. Lots of love. Jackie

I love the piece. Can you explain how you framed it? Glass/no glass? Did it yourself/sent it out? How is it attached to the mat.

I never told you how much I like this piece. I love the way the wonky edges are counterbalanced by the straight edges of the frame..
