Arty Christmas

In addition to the ornament swap, I also signed up for an ATC Christmas swap hosted by Amy. Here are my submissions.

I was really pleased with how they turned out. I painted the canvas in the class I took from Lisa Engelbrecht in Houston and then I just added all those other elements from my various boxes of stuff. I think the only thing I bought was the nubby red yarn that I zigged around the edge. (This is a favorite finishing technique I stole --- er, I meaned learned -- from Sarah.)

As I zigged the yarn, I also grabbed a piece of cereal box carboard for the backing. Unfortunately, I turned the printed side out on some of them. So they are Christmasy on the front and "9 vitamins and minerals" on the back. (I just stuck a label over those, signed them and called it good.)

Some of these also got tucked into the box I sent to the Frayed Edges and I had a couple left over that I've put up here and there for some holiday artyness.

I have a very small collection of ATCs, but they really are charming little bits of creative goodness. A fun project to get me jump started on new ideas and a fun item to collect from other artists.

I haven't received my swap ornaments or ATCs yet... but I'll share when they arrive.
