Look Familiar?

Remember my little desk top postcard jungle, previously inhabited by a hippo and a birdy? (Of course you do, if not just scroll down.) Now it's a sunny desktop jungle! Thank you Deb!

I've been reading lately. Books, even. Not just magazines. I read gods in Alabama, which has been oft recommended on this blog ring. The author of gods has an superfunny and insightful blog which I really get a kick out of -- even though it rarely has any pictures. She sometimes recommends books, so I recently took her advice and read The Solace of Leaving Early and The Rock Orchard. I just loved The Rock Orchard. If you're looking for a bawdy, interesting, surprising, thoughtful, funny story about love and relationships and how people are so different and yet so alike, I'd totally recommend it. A dear friend sent it to me right off my amazon wish list. How great is that!?

We went to a Japanese hibachi steak house this weekend.

Claire wore her kimono style PINK outfit that Jeff brought her from Japan. It was so fun. How can you beat a volcano made out of an onion shooting flames four feet in the air?! And the food was delish! It was a perfect evening except for the stranger sitting next to me who wanted to tell me her life story. Ah, excuse me, I'm all for friendliness, but I am out with MY family for dinner and I need to stop my son from seeing how many grains of rice he can stick on his nose.

I just finished the Time Traveler's Wife. Very good! I recommend. I also read The handmaids tail, but I think you read that.

I have forgotten to tell you several times that I got Gods in Alabama on tape and listened to it while working on my quilting...I loved it! And really liked listening to the southern dialect.

Looks like you had a very fun time! You all look so happy. Did you like gods in Alabama? I've not read the two you mentioned, but I've added to them to the "future read" pile!

You are so much better at being accountable for your lovely mail gifts, Deborah. I received a lovely card from Deb, too. She's spreading the sunshine.

Your family is, as always, super cute. You should all be models!

I am a sucker for ears like your boy's. He is too cute for words.
Happy Birthday again.
