Various Thoughts

I'm trying to write this quickly so I can watch Martha at 10am. This is my only free morning this week and I'm making the most of it.

I already had coffee... of course. Though, I discovered that when the power goes off (as it does ALL THE TIME), you must reset the auto program on the coffee maker, lest you wish to have it brewing at midnight.

I've also been grocery shopping. Why why why do they not put the milk jugs in plastic bags here in Maine? This makes no sense to me. I usually remember to ask the kind bagger to put them in bags, but today I did not. That means an extra trip to bring everything in from the garage. Grrr.
And why why why can you not get a normal hot dog bun in Maine? I prefer the traditional hot dog bun with the slit running horizontally. In Maine you can only get a bun with the slit running vertically down the middle of the top of the bun. It's just wrong.

Check out Joanne, her blog is shaping up to be so witty and artsy. She also works at the library. We love all things library. Benjamin and I were there on Tuesday and Joanne asked him what he dressed as for Halloween. He paused then answered, "a pirate." The librarians were enthused and went on to ask if he got lots of candy. Of course, he WAS NOT a pirate. He's a cunning boy. One can never guess what's going on in his head. He was a pirate last year. Here's a picture.

I'm off to the studio. But first I'll be noshing on the chocolate crossoint I bought at the grocery store and having another cup of coffee. Then I must finish the pages for Kathy's Frayed Edges Round Robin book and sew together the blocks for a baby quilt.

Oh, I have a confession. Those crafty bloggers have me under their spell. I am so attracted to all those aprons, softies, bags, pins and pin cushions. In fact, another baby project may get under way today and it will be crafty -- in all the best ways.

They have me mesmerized, too. Thinking of doing aprons right now although not participating in "Tie One On" - just for fun.

Here they always ask if I want the jug in the bag or not... I never do.

I'll share my fabulous little tip: these are easy to find if you look. There are collapsible plastic crates available at most big box stores. Folded flat, they are about 4" deep. Opened up each crate holds 2 fully packed paper grocery bags. Makes trips to the house with groceries SOO SIMPLE.

Unabashed disdain for Maine, Deborah!!!! You've started your separation I can tell.

(They don't bag the jugs because good environmental Mainers like me yell at them if they do!)

xxoo

I don't understand the hot dog bun thing...I've only ever seen one kind. Hhmmm...

And I'm another one who lives in a place where thy always start to put the milk jugs in a plastic bag and I tell them not to because I'd rather carry it by the handle. We should trade grocery baggers! :-)

You should shop up here...you can get regular hot dog buns (horizontal slice) or "lobster-roll" buns (vertical slice, like a flat laof of bread where every other slice doesn't go all the way to the bottom for all you non-Mainers....).

And get the crates...I bought some years ago and LOVE them and use them all the time for just about everything (you know the ones I haul to your house every month? LOL).....

And Benjamin is still cute as a bug's ear no matter what he wears for Halloween.....
