I love the simplicity of this - the shapes and quilting. I have a friend who took a photo of rocks on an island off Scotland and took the photo to a Ruth McDowell Class - yikes - what a lot of work, but she had such lovely rock like fabrics and it turned out beatutifully. Me? I'd rather be fusin'!
I like the design the best and the colours...very calming. Am curious to know why you selected the quilting patterns you did? I always seem to want a seam to dictate and define the quilting area...I need to work on breaking that.
Deborah, I'm so glad you posted pictures of this. I love it. The contrast is terrific and I love the rock shapes. They are like Kamenetzy's cells and the seeds that I make. They are superfantastic! This is going to be the best piece that you've done so far. I loveitloveitloveitloveit.

Really nice! I love the way you have those strong rock spaces, then the quilting goes the other way. Makes me want to do my own rock quilt.
Maybe later this week if we have a sunny day I'll head back to the Sulfur Gates, take some photos, post on my Blog, and starting rocking myself.
Great fusing, too. I love the way fusing is changing the quilted landscape - a la Mrs. Mel, Sonji, Freida, Robbi, etc. Let's all fuse together! Wheee!

And, like Karoda, I need to work on quilting designs that do not necessarily relate to the work on the front. This looks so cool.
