Fiberart For A Cause Contribution

Thank you for helping me decide which art quilt to donate to THE 100 Fiberart for a Cause. Here is my contribution: When Blue Blooms, 10x10.

Here's a detail showing the machine stitched arch at the top and a bit of the painted twigs with French knot buds.

More hand stitching... my beloved Y stitches and a swirly vine.

You can get all the details about this exciting, innovative fundraiser here.

1 Day - 100 Artists - 100 Patrons - $10,000Wednesday, February 4, 2015
Opens 10 a.m. Central

How The Fundraiser Works

On February 4, the first 100 people to contact Virginia(at)VirginiaSpiegel.com) beginning at 10 a.m. Central will be given a link to donate $100 by credit card directly to the American Cancer Society through Fiberart For A Cause.

To be fair to all, no e-mails time dated before 10 a.m. Central will be opened. Virginia is not responsible for the vagaries of the e-mail system.

Please note your donation to the ACS will be credited through the Forest Lake Area Relay For Life. Why?

Each donor will receive an artwork from one of the 100 generous and talented artists here. Assignments of artwork will be made using a random number generator. See our Pinterest board for previews of many artworks.

The artwork may be any size as long as the minimum retail value is $100. Artwork smaller than 8x10" will be mounted to 8x10" or 9x9." The artwork will contain fiber and may or may not be stitched. The artwork may or may not be made specifically for this event.

Help Me Choose!

I am thrilled that Virginia Spiegel asked me to contribute to her exciting fundraiser: THE 100!

1 Day - 100 Artists - 100 Patrons - $10,000Wednesday, February 4, 2015
Opens 10 a.m. Central

It's a great concept. You can get all the details here. Basically, anyone can email Virginia beginning at 10 am CT on Wednesday, February 4 with a promise to donate $100 to the American Cancer Society. The first 100 donors will receive a piece of fiber art donated by one of 100 really wonderfully talented and inspiring artists.

You can see several of the donated pieces of art here.

I created these two art quilts after I finished my two large silhouette pieces. They are a continuation of my thoughts about reflecting on life and the possibilities that lie before us.

Which one should be my contribution for THE 100? Care to vote?

Another Amazing Project with Fiberart For A Cause

I am so happy to pass along information about an exciting new initiative raising money for the American Cancer Society. It's Virginia Spiegel's Fiberart For A Cause. This year her project is called "The 100."

Virginia invited 100 fiber artists to commit to donating a piece of their artwork to a patron who donates $100 to the American Cancer Society on February 4. After the donations are received, Virginia will randomly match artists will donors and the artists will send off their artwork.

I am thrilled to be included on this list of 100 amazing artists! Artists may be posting images of the art they'll be donated between now and February 4. I haven't decided if I'll share mine yet...

Fiberart For A Cause has already raised $240,000 through the generosity of fiber artists and patrons. Wow. Isn't that amazing?! We've all lost far too much to cancer. I am eager to be a part of the continued fight for a cure and the support for those living with the disease.
